David Gilmour Shares First Sound From His New Record: ‘I’m Ready’

In a recent post on X, David Gilmour gave a sneak peek of his new record.

The guitarist shared a brief clip showing him in the studio and playing some tunes with his guitar. Then, he pauses and says:

“I’m ready.”

How Did The Fans React To Gilmour’s Post?

The post doesn’t have any caption. Besides new music, some fans in the comment section also guessed it could be a tour. One of them wrote:

“I am ready too. Tour! Tour! Tour!”

Another one also wanted a US tour:

“We love you Mr. Gilmour. Any notion of a US tour would be very welcome. You are #1 on my list of greatest guitarists of all time.”

Some still think it is a new album as one other fan said:

“Can’t wait to see that new album! Come on, we are ready too!”

Polly Samson Has Been Teasing David’s New Effort For A While

Gilmour’s wife, Polly Samson has been posting pictures of the guitarist and other musicians in the studio for about two years. The previously spotted names are veteran bassist Guy Pratt, pianist Roger Eno, drummer Adam Betts, and bassist Tom Herbert.

In December 2023, Samson shared another post on social media showing Gilmour working with producer Charlie Andrew, and session musician Steve Gadd, in the studio. In an earlier interview with the Romanian website Ziles Inopti, Samson confirmed a new album from Gilmour, saying:

“I hope to be back with a new novel as soon as possible. At the moment, I’m working with David Gilmour on new songs. Promising, right?”

Last month, Samson released another post on Instagram, which showed black-and-white photos of Gilmour working with Charlie Andrew and Will Gardner. She also shared a hint about what the album will include:

“Orchestra and choir at Angel Studios, sublime.”

In the comments, fans were excited about new music from Gilmour, especially since his last album was in 2015 and he hasn’t toured since then. They’re waiting for an album and tour announcement. His new record will be a follow-up to 2015’s ‘Rattle That Lock.’ There’s still no official news about when it might be released.
