David Gilmour Is Working With An Orchestra And Choir For His Mysterious New Record

Polly Samson recently took to Instagram to share a behind-the-scenes look at the production of David Gilmour’s eagerly awaited new album.

In a fresh update, Samson’s Instagram feed featured a few black-and-white photos showing Gilmour working closely with Charlie Andrew and Will Gardner. Her caption revealed a detail about the album’s content:

“Orchestra and choir at Angel Studios, sublime.”

Fans Are Excited

The news of fresh material from Gilmour has excited his followers. Given that his last album, ‘Rattle That Lock,’ came out in 2015 and he hasn’t toured since, the anticipation among the fans was clear in the post’s comments section.

An Instagram user expressed their eagerness:

“We need official album and tour announcement… I hoped for press release on 6th March, but it did not happen… Please, world need a good news like that!”

Other fans showed interest in the guitarist’s collaboration with a choir and orchestra, with one commenting:

“I like choirs… Looking forward to hear the result.”

The Project Has Been Long In Production

Gilmour has kept details of his upcoming album under wraps, leaving fans hanging on every update shared by his wife. For the last year and a half, Samson has been the main source of information, posting images and snippets of her husband and various artists hard at work in the studio.

The studio team features a mix of well-known musicians and industry veterans such as bassists Guy Pratt and Tom Herber, pianist Roger Eno, and drummer Adam Betts. The project also involves producer Charlie Andrew and drummer Steve Gadd.

The release of Gilmour’s new solo album is planned for 2024, though the name and exact release date are yet to be announced.
