Check Out Paul McCartney’s Farewell To Elton John At His Final UK Show

A few days ago, Elton John gave his final performance in the UK at the Glastonbury Festival 2023. In a viral video shared by a Twitter user, Paul McCartney was spotted backstage at the singer’s concert, capturing Elton’s performance on his phone. The person, who posted the footage, wrote:

“Paul McCartney taking a video of Elton John performing ‘Don’t Let The Sun Go Down On Me.’ This is priceless!”

Another user commented:

“Game respects game!”

Throughout the concert, John performed with different artists, including some up-and-comers. Among these were Jacob Lusk of Gabriels, who performed ‘Are You Ready For Love?’ with him, and Stephen Sanchez, who was invited to the stage for ‘Until I Found You.’

Referring to Sanchez and the other guests during the show, the ‘I’m Still Standing’ singer said:

“When I chose my guests for this show, I wanted to have newer artists, save for one person, and this boy I heard last year on the radio… I’ve asked him to come to Glastonbury to do his song, and he’s an amazing young talent.”

Statistics from overnights.com (as cited by The Independent) revealed that Elton John’s set was viewed by 7.3 million people via the BBC, marking it the most-watched set in the festival’s history. NME gave a review of this show by writing:

“Look at that setlist – it can’t be improved. As previously promised, the ending segment of the show saw ‘all hell break loose.’ ‘Crocodile Rock,’ massive. ‘Saturday Night’s Alright for Fighting,’ feral. ‘I’m Still Standing,’ the summit. ‘Don’t Let the Sun Go Down on Me,’ dedicated to George Michael on what would have been his 60th birthday.”

Having first announced his retirement plans in 2018, Elton John named his final tour ‘Farewell Yellow Brick Road.‘ After facing delays due to the pandemic and health problems, the tour is nearing its end, with only a few more performances scheduled in Europe.
