Elton John Considers Glastonbury’s Offer To Headline A Sign

Given the title of ‘Sir’ by Queen Elizabeth II of England, Elton John is getting prepared to say goodbye to the music industry with his final UK show at Glastonbury. He spoke to BBC Radio 2 about the details of the upcoming show:

“I have played festivals, and have really enjoyed them. But of course Glastonbury is the crème de la crème. To be honest with you, it’s the first time I’ve been asked to play it. It’s just come at the right time. I’m a great believer in serendipity and fate – this is the most wonderful way to sign off in England.
They’ve been wonderful. Emily [Eavis, festival co-organiser]’s been fantastic.”

Being the greatest stage of Glastonbury with 292 audio speakers, John will take place in the 25 meters tall Pyramid Stage. Glastonbury show will also have a different setlist from the one in Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour.

Having gone on his farewell tour Farewell Yellow Brick Road in 2018, John will continue to perform in Europe until July 2023. The farewell tour, which was initially scheduled to end in 2021, has been postponed multiple times due to both the pandemic and the hip injury he has been through.
