Have you, whenever outdoors, ever looked at the seemingly infinite night sky above you and wondered, ‘Is there anyone up there? Maybe a few aliens or two?’ Well, you’re in luck because Blink-182’s Tom DeLonge had also been thinking the same thing. However, probably unlike you, the guitarist went on to found an entire academy dedicated to arts and sciences and… the exploration of outer space.
For his company, To the Stars… Academy of Arts & Sciences, and over-enthusiasm for alien sightings, UFOs, and discovering possible extraterrestrial life, DeLonge had one thing to thank. As you might guess from the headline, it was rock and roll, as the guitarist shared how music influenced his quest with outer space, aliens, and UFOs on Twitter.
Well, we might consider the rocker’s academy a milestone in his search for extraterrestrial life, as he has collaborated with artists and scientists worldwide to unveil the mysteries of outer space. And, on a much recent note, Muse’s Matt Bellamy recalled chatting with DeLonge about their takes on alien sightings, and Tom offered Matt to take him on a trip to Vegas to show him a warehouse full of ‘weird alien sh*t.’ (Tom’s words, not ours.)
So, with all the guitarist’s enthusiasm over aliens and space and a company dedicated to discovering outer space, DeLonge also had to thank rock and roll, as it gave him the courage and freedom to open up about his beliefs and provided the prestige for him to form To the Stars. He also revealed that a new project was on the way.
“Big UFO things coming,” said the musician before honoring his academy by calling it a game-changer. “I always thought the punk rock side of me helped with its fearless nature to beat down doors and spark a change. To the Stars literally changed the world. It’s all happening now.”
All in all, DeLonge is enthusiastic about unveiling the secrets behind outer space and exploring it, as well as finding if there are aliens out there, as he indeed believed there were. Rock and roll gave him the freedom not to be shy about his conspiracies, and the courage that punk rock brings paved the way for him to establish his company.
