Rush guitarist Alex Lifeson recently addressed speculation about potential band reunions following his ongoing jam sessions with bassist Geddy Lee, in an interview with Guitar World.

The guitarist spoke candidly about his current musical relationship with his longtime bandmate and the nature of their collaborations.

“We [with Geddy Lee] get together – we do stuff together,” Lifeson said. “Sometimes I go over there, and we’re going to jam or something, and we end up just drinking coffee and laughing, you know?”

He emphasized the personal value of their friendship beyond any musical outcomes.

“That’s a beautiful part of our relationship,” he continued. “Will something come of it? I don’t know. Who knows? But I know I’m really happy doing [Envy of None].”

The comments come as fans continue to speculate about a possible Rush reunion. Lifeson appears focused on his current project Envy of None.

These casual meetings between the two musicians reflect a friendship that spans decades and extends far beyond their professional collaboration. iHeart reported that Lifeson and Lee have been best friends since they were 13 years old. Their meetings often involve more socializing than music-making.

The increased attention on their jam sessions comes at a time when the music industry has seen renewed interest in live performances. Blabbermouth noted that promoters frequently approach them about performing together. This trend has increased since the COVID pandemic as live shows regain popularity.

Both musicians have remained busy with individual projects that keep them occupied beyond their informal gatherings. Blabbermouth revealed that Lee has been focused on his writing endeavors, which include four published books. Lifeson continues his work with Envy of None.

Despite their occasional jam sessions, which may include playing Rush songs for fun, there remains no concrete indication of an official reunion in the works. The musicians appear content with their current creative paths while maintaining the personal bond that has sustained their friendship for over five decades.
