RHCP’S Flea Insists ‘Idiot’ Dillon Brooks Is An Embarrassment For Houston Rockets

On Monday, the Houston Rockets hosted the Los Angeles Lakers in a game that ended with the Rockets winning 135-119. But the fourth quarter saw an incident involving LeBron James and Dillon Brooks. James took a fall after Brooks hit him in the head with the ball, which upset the Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist Flea, a huge Lakers supporter. He criticized the player on X:

“Dear Houston Rockets fans. I know you are happy you just beat the Lakers. I get it; I love my team, too. But admit you are embarrassed to have Dillon Brooks, the idiot child, on your team.”

When a follower asked why he didn’t like ‘villains,’ the artist commented:

“Vernon Maxwell was a good villain, Laimbeer was a villain. Brooks is an idiot child.”

Despite the incident, LeBron James was able to continue in the game. Brooks received a Flagrant 1 foul for his part in the clash but wasn’t ejected.

Flea’s Love For The Sport And Lakers

Flea has consistently shown support for the Lakers across various platforms and even got a ‘Go Lakers!’ tattoo on his arm. His bandmate, Anthony Kiedis, often shared the bassist’s passion for basketball by attending some games with him.

In 2018, a game they went to watch saw Kiedis being ejected from the Staples Center during a scuffle involving Lakers and Rockets players. While Flea remained seated during the fight, he later wrote about the match the Lakers lost 115-12 on X:

“At the Lakers game last night with my dear brother. It got crazy at the end, but man, I get so satisfied deeply drinking in the depth and beauty of the game. People operating at a high level in so many dimensions. Cerebral, physical, spiritual, emotional, unspoken and telepathic communication.”
