Yungblud recently addressed criticism about being called an “industry plant.” He defended both himself and other emerging artists in comments shared on Apple Music.

The British artist’s response came when the topic of industry plant accusations was brought up during the interview.

“Industry plant’s such a funny f*cking word,” Yungblud said. “Because I’m telling you, I promise you, we’re in Apple Music in LA right now and no one is getting heard without working their asses off. Not one artist you hear a day that’s successful.”

He emphasized the universal need for hard work in the music industry, regardless of backing or support.

“You can have anything. You can have any backing. You can have no backing. You have to work your ass off,” he continued. “So I always laugh when people call anyone an industry plant.”

Yungblud also defended other artists who face similar accusations. He cited specific examples from the music scene.

“Like Lola Young pops up or Chappell Roan pops up, and then you scroll through the comments that say industry plant. I’m like, ‘No Lola played Bloodfest last year. There were 5,000 kids there on a 35,000 capacity stage.’ I’m like, ‘I’m going to be supporting her one day.’ I’m telling you,” he said. “Industry plant’s such a funny word because like it’s just you think you f*cking know.”

Yungblud’s passionate defense of emerging artists stems from his own challenging journey to success. This contradicts the simplified narrative of manufactured stardom.

Music Week reported that before finding success, Yungblud struggled to break into the industry. He often played gigs in London with little attendance and faced rejection from record executives who doubted the appeal of rock music to younger audiences. The artist himself acknowledged these early struggles, stating that “it was so hard to get off the ground because rock’n’roll music was completely obsolete.”

The path to his current success involved significant personal sacrifices and artistic compromises. Yungblud Wiki documented that early in his career, he abandoned his original musical style to conform to industry demands. This shows the compromises artists often make before establishing their true voice. This transformation highlights the complex reality behind what critics might dismiss as artificial success.

His background further demonstrates the dedication required to achieve recognition in today’s music landscape. Numero Magazine revealed that Yungblud’s rise involved years of persistent effort and gradual recognition from established rock legends. This included endorsements from Mick Jagger and Ozzy Osbourne, which came only after he had proven his authenticity through consistent performance and genuine connection with audiences.

The comments reflect ongoing debates in the music industry about authenticity and the path to success for emerging artists. Yungblud’s own experience serves as a counter-narrative to oversimplified industry plant accusations.
