Lauri Ylönen, frontman of The Rasmus, addressed fan reactions to the band’s heavier direction in a recent interview with Brutally Delicious Productions.

“I think the fans have always been expecting us to make a rock album. They are like, ‘Please make a rock album,'” Ylönen said. “We’ve explored a lot with synthesizers and stuff like that. I have a passion for that too. I made some solo stuff that was very electronic. I like that because I think it’s also kind of dark and gothic.”

“But I think the fans are actually pleased with this new sound as far as I’ve seen the comments on socials,” he continued. “I’m just feeling that they are happy because, like what I said before, we still have that typical Rasmus sound. It’s just like a kind of a new fresh package.”

The Rasmus continues to evolve their sound while maintaining their signature style. The band has explored electronic elements before making their return to a heavier rock direction.

The band’s sonic evolution is clearly demonstrated in their recent releases. Blabbermouth reported the release of their new single ‘Creatures of Chaos.’ This follows their October 2024 track ‘Rest In Pieces,’ released through Better Noise Music.

The band’s dedication to their evolving sound extends to their live performances. Renowned For Sound revealed The Rasmus will launch their ‘Weirdo’ tour across Europe. The tour runs from September 12 to December 6, 2025.

Jelmu detailed the extensive tour schedule. The band plans to showcase their new material while maintaining their connection with fans throughout the continent.

These developments reinforce Ylönen’s comments about the band’s musical direction. The Rasmus has successfully evolved their sound while preserving their distinctive musical identity.
