Pink Floyd’s official Instagram account surprised fans this week by sharing a rare and positive message about founding member Roger Waters, as reported by Instagram.
The post marked Waters’ 83rd birthday and briefly recognized his role in the band’s history. This gesture stood out given the band’s socials are widely believed to be managed by David Gilmour’s wife, Polly Samson, amid an ongoing public dispute between Samson, Gilmour and Waters.
The message read as follows:
“Many happy returns to Roger Waters, who celebrates his 83rd birthday today,” Pink Floyd’s post said. “One of the founding members of Pink Floyd, he left in late 1985 to pursue a successful solo career, including some spectacular live presentations such as the more than 200 date The Wall Live. Happy birthday, Roger!”
The unexpected tribute quickly drew reactions from fans in the comments section, many of whom questioned the authenticity or motive behind the post.
