Yoko Ono Says John Lennon Is Still Alive For Her
Artist and John Lennon’s widow, Yoko Ono, shared a post on her Twitter account to pay tribute to her husband on his birthday. In the message, Ono stated that a person like John Lennon cannot be stopped by death, and he will always be with her.
As you probably know, Lennon’s death was very early and unexpected for both his family and fans. The Beatles co-lead vocalist was murdered by his fan Mark David Chapman after he signed ‘Double Fantasy’ for him. Chapman shot him twice in the back and twice in the shoulder. Even though Lennon was taken to the hospital, he passed away on December 8, 1980.
Then, Lennon’s body was cremated, and Yoko Ono spread his ashes at Central Park. His family, bandmates, friends, and fans were devastated by the news. It was known that Lennon and Ono could be in danger due to their political activism, but no one could have guessed that a fan would murder Lennon. Chapman pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 20 years.
In her recent tweet, his widow Yoko Ono reflected her feelings about John Lennon on his birthday. She highlighted that they were not only husband and wife but were also best friends, and he is still alive for her. According to Ono, even death cannot tear them apart, and the late Beatles legend’s spirit will be always in this world. Lennon’s fans also shared comments and heart emojis under her post.
Ono’s tweet read:
“In our 14 years together, John never stopped trying to improve himself from within. We were best friends. To me, he is still alive. Death alone doesn’t extinguish a flame and a spirit like John.“
