Will Ramos, vocalist of Lorna Shore, recently opened up about the band’s growing success and his approach to handling fame. He shared his thoughts in an interview with Rock Feed.
The discussion centered around the band’s acclaimed album “Pain Remains” and Ramos’s perspective on their rising momentum in the metal scene.
When asked about when he realized the band had “something special” with their album “Pain Remains” and their growing momentum, Ramos provided an honest and humble response.
“Honestly I don’t know. I think we all have imposter syndrome. So, as far as I’m concerned, I still don’t see it,” Ramos said. “But, I’m just happy people are coming to our shows. You know, I try not to think about it too much so I don’t psych myself out.”
The vocalist emphasized his commitment to staying grounded despite the band’s success.
“Honestly, I don’t know what the future holds. I don’t know if we’ll hit a ceiling if we’ve already hit the ceiling. It’s just keep pushing through,” he continued. “I think if you don’t think about it, you don’t change. People change a lot when they get put in these weird situations and they, you know, it doesn’t feel right to me. I don’t see myself as anybody else other than I’m still in my shower screaming in a $20 iHome iPod Nano. You know, that was me. I still feel that way about myself.”
Ramos’s humble perspective comes at a time when Lorna Shore has achieved unprecedented commercial success in the deathcore scene.
Lambgoat reported that “Pain Remains” debuted at number 150 on the US Billboard 200 with 6,000 copies sold shortly after its release on October 14, 2022. The album’s commercial performance was particularly notable for its strong physical sales presence. It sold 1,400 vinyl copies in an era dominated by streaming platforms.
The album also achieved significant chart success across multiple rock and metal categories. Industry reports showed that “Pain Remains” reached #2 on Hard Music Albums and #4 on Current Rock Albums. This demonstrated the band’s crossover appeal within the metal community.
Critics have praised the album’s ambitious blend of deathcore and symphonic elements. Metal Injection highlighted Ramos’s vocal performance as one of the best in the deathcore scene. The publication emphasized his versatility across extreme metal vocal styles. The review noted the album’s orchestral complexity and bombastic style, drawing comparisons to acts like Nightwish and Dimmu Borgir.
The band’s artistic evolution has significantly raised their profile in the metal scene. Music critics have recognized “Pain Remains” for pushing the boundaries of traditional deathcore. The album incorporates sophisticated orchestral arrangements that have elevated the genre’s artistic credibility and attracted listeners from beyond the typical deathcore fanbase.
The interview highlights Ramos’s determination to maintain his authenticity as Lorna Shore continues to gain recognition in the metal community.
