Wendy Dio On Ronnie James Dio’s Last Project He Never Had The Chance To Complete
Wendy Dio revealed the late legendary musician and her husband Ronnie James Dio‘s work that he wanted to finish before his death during her appearance on BraveWords’ Streaming For Vengeance. Dio discussed the rocker’s other plans while sharing details about his wishes.
The famous heavy metal band Dio released their eighth studio record, ‘Magica,’ a concept album, on March 21, 2000. It got critical acclaim for its uniqueness and the musicians’ extraordinary performances. Shortly after, it was understood that Dio planned it as a trilogy. However, he couldn’t follow his plans for part two and three of it because of a severe illness that he was diagnosed with years later.
Dio announced that he would begin focusing on ‘Magica II’ and ‘Magica III,’ which drew great attention following his tour with a British-American heavy metal supergroup, Heaven & Hell. Unfortunately, the singer had stomach cancer, couldn’t fight for a long time, and passed away on May 16, 2010. Thus, his illness didn’t let him complete his project, and his widow and manager, Wendy Dio, detailed the situation.
In her conversation, the host asked Wendy about Dio’s last project that he intended to release before his early and tragic death. She said he wished to complete the remaining parts of his concept album, but he couldn’t have any chance. Wendy Dio also unveiled that the iconic musician was interested in production and thought about producing other various bands.
In her interview, Dio said:
“He wanted to finish his trilogy of ‘Magica,’ which unfortunately never got to finish, but that was one of the things he wanted to do. I think he would want to go into production, producing other bands, and he had done a few things with different bands. I think that was something he was interested in doing.”
