While immersing yourself in the music through headphones is really a great option, many metalheads would agree that it cannot replace live performances. With pyrotechnics, a shouting crowd, some crazy costumes and masks, and a piece of heart-rending music, live metal performances almost turn into a ritual, of course, quite a dark one. The metal scene has undoubtedly seen the wildest of these ritualistic acts.

Sometimes, they really get a little too wild. Blood, hopefully artificial, gore elements, and some monstrous acts have also taken some metal shows to a terrifying level. But hey, isn’t this frightening atmosphere the best fit for the nature of metal music anyway? Not only the audience but also the musicians sometimes get so caught up in that moment that we just watch performers transform into hauntingly beautiful monsters.

During the pandemic, Brass Against missed precisely these wildest performances, going crazy in front of the crowd. When the restrictions were finally lifted in the fall of last year, they hurled themselves onto the stage hungrily. They started playing their songs at the Welcome to Rockville festival.

When it was time for Rage Against the Machine’s ‘Wake Up,’ things took a really wild turn. So much so that one of the most brutal bands in the metal scene would apologize to their audience for what they did. Let’s give some more hints. Interestingly, a ‘no pee zone’ sign and a warning text would await them on stage at their next concert. Yes, you guessed right; this time, urinating was added to this crazy performance.

When they started to play the RATM cover, Urista invited a fan up on stage. Yet, there was a little problem, as she was a little too immersed in the song. When the fan entered the stage, the frontwoman instructed him to lie down. He was holding a camera to his head. She continued to cover the 1992 song as she pulled down her pants and urinated on his face. The crowd was shocked, probably not as much as the fan on the stage.

We don’t know what was going through her head at that moment, but one thing we do know is that they would really regret it later. “We’re truly sorry. [This is] not who we are as a band,” Brass Against stated in a tweet after the performance, but it was later removed. Then, the New York band again apologized on social media, saying that Urista got carried away’ and that it was not something the audience would see again at their shows. This, however, was not removed.

The whole post read, “We had a great time last night at Welcome to Rockville. Sophia got carried away. That’s not something the rest of us expected, and it’s not something you’ll see again at our shows. Thanks for bringing it last night, Daytona.”

Urista later apologized on her own behalf on Instagram since she knew she had pushed the limits. She also said in the post that she was not a ‘shock artist’ and did not want to hurt anyone. Still, it was probably one of the wildest scenes that the metal community had ever seen, and no apology could cover it.

She wrote, “Hey everyone. I want to speak about my performance at the Rockville metal festival in Daytona. I have always pushed the limits in music and onstage. That night, I pushed the limits too far. I love my family, the band, and the fans more than anything, and I know some were hurt or offended by what I did. I apologize to them and want them to know that I didn’t mean to hurt them. I am not a shock artist. I always want to put the music first. I’m grateful for all of your continued love and support.”

After this performance, their next show would be in Copenhagen. Either because Copenhagen’s crew really feared something like this would happen again or just because they wanted to have some fun, they placed a sign on the stage. When she got on stage, the ‘No Urine Zone’ sign greeted Urista.

But judging by the comments under the post, the metal goddess was quickly forgiven. Some even did not blame her and supported her by saying it was a ‘very metal’ act. Whatever happened happened, and they got their names written in capital letters on the ‘wildest moment in metal history’ list.
