Ted Nugent Shares The ‘Heartbreaking’ Reason Behind His Farewell

Ted Nugent recently sat down with THAT Rocks! to talk about leaving his touring days behind. The rocker discussed why he can’t stand touring anymore and explained how it negatively impacts his household. He said:

“I got, I don’t know if you can see, I’m in my man cave Cuckoo’s Nest, and there’s one of my dogs; all my dogs are here. When I get ready to leave… I pack my bags, and my dogs are heartbroken. I mean, they look so sad because they know Dad’s getting ready to go away.”

Even though Nugent shared that he is done touring for months at a time, he also mentioned that he will continue to make music. Ted added:

“I will always play music. The music still has fire; I still crave it. I’ve got new songs. I’m going to go in the studio with these killer musicians that are always at my side but traveling; I tell you, a hotel room is jail.”

The rocker also mentioned his latest performance at Cherry Festival, which brought him the excitement he felt when he was young. The rocker said:

“That [Cherry Festival] was my 6788th rock out. I count jam sessions and all my concerts 6788 that goes all the way back to Detroit in 1956, but when I got on stage with Night Ranger, and we played ‘Coming of Age,’ the damn Yankee song, and then we had at least ‘Catch Scratch Fever’ I felt like I was 12 years old with my first fiery hard on.”

Ted had announced his farewell tour, the ‘Adios Mofo ’23 Tour’, this past April on The Nightly Nuge. Even then, the rocker had listed his dogs, grandchildren, and children as reasons for his last run. He said:

“The musical dream will continue, but I’m not going on tour anymore because, Keith, hotels are jail; yeah, the hotel room is a jail for me. My dogs won’t allow me to not spend the day with them, so Happy, Sadie, and Coco will go on the road with me this year, but the logistics are too complicated when you have dogs and grandkids and kids.”
