Michael Sweet subtly criticized Maynard James Keenan, Jelly Roll, and Billy Idol on Instagram.

The Stryper singer shared a photo of these names from the backstage of the Ozzy Osbourne tribute show at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame ceremony and wrote, “As great as all these singers are (and they did an honorable job for sure), seeing this performance at Rock Hall made me appreciate 2 things: Ozzy’s voice even more. WVH’s playing even more.”

So, Sweet praised Ozzy’s voice and Wolfgang Van Halen’s playing. Fans seemed to agree with him in the comment section. “Wolfie is killer on guitar – even more amazing on drums!” someone said.

Another user noted, “I am a fan of all three of the singers in the tribute group, but I was thinking if I were in a club watching a cover band with any of these three singers doing these songs, I would suggest not doing Ozzy songs.”

“Wolf killed it, Idol is ageless, and Jelly Roll shouldn’t sing metal. All in all, so happy to see Ozzy in the Hall – well deserved,” one other commenter added.

On October 19, Osbourne was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for the second time. He was first inducted in 2006 as the singer of Black Sabbath. At the ceremony in Cleveland, Ohio, he was honored for his solo career. The event was shown on Disney+.

Many famous friends joined Ozzy onstage, where he sat on a black throne shaped like a bat. Jack Black gave a speech to present Ozzy with the award. In his acceptance speech, Ozzy thanked his family and fans and remembered the late Randy Rhoads.

Then, a group of musicians performed a mix of Ozzy’s classic songs. Keenan, Zakk Wylde, Robert Trujillo, and Chad Smith played ‘Crazy Train.’ Next, Roll and Wylde joined Trujillo, Smith, and Andrew Watt for ‘Mama, I’m Coming Home.’ Finally, Idol and Steve Stevens performed ‘No More Tears’ with Trujillo, Smith, Watt, and keyboardist Adam Wakeman.
