Fleetwood Mac singer Christine McVie’s birthday was celebrated on social media by Mick Fleetwood and Stevie Nicks. The pictures of the singer, who passed away last year due to a stroke and metastasized cancer, were shared with tribute notes as Fleetwood and Nicks signaled they were determined to carry on McVie’s memory.

Fleetwood’s note read:

“For Christine. Here we are thinking of you on your heavenly 80th birthday! For me, although missing you on this celebration of your 80th birthday… I like so many have the greatest memories in plenty! And most of all, your songs are lighting up the world on this your birthday. Chris, Happy Birthday. You are loved and dearly missed.”

Nicks’ short message read:

“I still see your bright eyes.”

Lindsey Buckingham also shared a picture of the two together, sharing the lyrics of their song ‘Red Sun‘:

“When the red sun kisses the sea.”

After losing her bandmate, Nicks admitted that she has been pretending that McVie is alive to cope with her passing away.

One of the unreleased songs of McVie, ‘Little Darlin” was released on her birthday. The song was recorded during the sessions for her 2004 solo LP ‘In the Meantime’. Though Rhino Records will reissue both ‘In The Meantime’ and her self-titled album, McVie’s nephew Dan Perfect revealed that ‘In The Meantime’ was intended to be rereleased before his aunt’s passing.
