Singer-songwriter-keyboardist Christine McVie, who was behind some of Fleetwood Mac’s greatest hits like ‘Little Lies,’ ‘Everywhere,’ ‘Don’t Stop,’ ‘Say You Love Me,’ and ‘Songbird,’ passed away on Wednesday, November 30, following a short illness. She was 79. The band members paid tribute to the late musician with a Twitter statement after receiving news of her death.
“There are no words to describe our sadness at the passing of Christine McVie,” the statement read. “She was truly one-of-a-kind, special, and talented beyond measure. She was the best musician anyone could have in their band and the best friend anyone could have in their life.”
The Fleetwood Mac members continued, “We were so lucky to have a life with her. Individually and together, we cherished Christine deeply and are thankful for the amazing memories we have. She will be so very missed.”

Before her long tenure in Fleetwood Mac, the keyboardist was a member of the blues band Chicken Shack for two years. Later, McVie joined Fleetwood Mac in 1970 and enjoyed an enduring career with the band. Although she departed from the legendary act after their big 1998 reunion tour, she returned to Mac in 2014 and played with the band until 2019.
The late singer played an important role in Fleetwood Mac with her musical contributions, helping them become one of the most successful rock acts ever. Besides her long career with the band, she also embarked on a solo journey and released three albums. In 2017, McVie collaborated with the Fleetwood Mac singer Lindsey Buckingham, and the duo dropped a studio record ‘Lindsey Buckingham Christine McVie.’ Rest in peace, Christine McVie.
