During a recent Sleep Token show at Wembley Arena in London, the band’s frontman, Vessel, experienced a sudden loss of voice.

In the middle of the concert, someone from Sleep Token came on stage and told the audience that Vessel was ill and had lost his voice. The video posted on social media shows the stagehand speaking on stage:

“He’ll stay on stage, but he’s not well, so we’re doing the set – you guys gotta be loud, OK?”

Sleep Token’s Social Media Update

The crowd of about 10,000 people at Wembley sang loudly for the next few songs. After that, the vocalist was able to come back and start singing again. So far, Sleep Token has only shared a brief message (along with photos) on social media about the incident, saying:

“The most sacred of times, captured by Adamross Williams. London. The night belonged to you. Now, he rests.”

Besides Vessel’s voice problems, the concert had other highlights. Band members II, III, and IV showed off new, surprising looks with masks. Over the weekend, the band posted close-up photos of their new masks, designed by Lani Hernandez-David, on Instagram, writing:

“A new era.”

Celebrity Endorsements

The band started in 2016, but their music, especially ‘The Summoning’ released in January, gained a lot of streams and new listeners in 2023. Plus, Evanescence’s Amy Lee praised Sleep Token as the one that she was ‘blown away.’ In a new interview with Revolver, the rocker shared why she is such a big fan of the band, explaining:

“I love Sleep Token. I’m blown away. How do they do it? How do they go so many different directions and call it one song?”

As she revealed, Lee’s favorite song from the band is ‘The Summoning.’ She was impressed by their innovative sound, especially the unique way they changed the song’s chorus towards the end. In a recent chat with Revoler, Cristina Scabbia of Lacuna Coil also mentioned Sleep Token when asked about any new bands she’s been listening to. She noted:

“I listened to a lot of Sleep Token. If they count as new for this year, they might be the band. I like them very much — I adore his voice. I just like the vibe. I don’t care about whoever says, ‘Oh, they’re not metal’ — I don’t give a f*ck. Music is about what you feel when you listen to it, and they play so well and have such a wonderful singer. That, to me, is awesome.”

Next year, they will join Bring Me the Horizon on their 2024 Australian tour, starting on April 14 in Sydney at the Qudos Bank Arena. The tour includes stops in Adelaide and Melbourne, ending in Brisbane on April 20. Sleep Token, along with Make Them Suffer and Daine, will be part of the tour.
