In a recent interview with Revolver Magazine, Cristina Scabbia was asked if there is a new band she has been listening to lately. Scabbie named Sleep Token as her answer. She said:
“I listened to a lot of Sleep Token. If they count as new for this year, they might be the band. I like them very much — I adore his voice. I just like the vibe. I don’t care about whoever says, ‘Oh, they’re not metal’ — I don’t give a fuck. Music is about what you feel when you listen to it, and they play so well and have such a wonderful singer. That, to me, is awesome.”
Sleep Token’s musical style is a bit mysterious. Even though they have some heavy songs, due to their experimental and alternative works, they received criticism by some metal fans for not making metal music. But Cristina Scabbia doesn’t care about that.
Rock Stars Are Praising Sleep Token

Sleep Token is getting a lot of positive feedback from rock stars. With the release of their album ‘Take Me Back To Eden’ this year, they attracted quite a bit of attention. Mike Shinoda is one of those rock stars who had good things to say about Sleep Token.
In a recent interview with NME, Mike Shinoda was asked what bands you’ve been listening to lately, and he named Sleep Token, calling their new album ‘Take Me Back To Eden’ ‘adventurous.’ He said:
“I went and listened to it, and I was like, ‘Oh! I’ve actually already heard this band.’ Now I know why everybody’s talking about them because their new record is really adventurous. It’s really strange to me in the best way.”
And Corey Taylor is also a Sleep Token fan. In an interview with the Allison Hagendorf YouTube channel in May, Taylor said that Sleep Token had ‘early Slipknot vibes’ and that they gave him hope for the future. He said:
“When I first heard Sleep Token I was like, ‘What the hell is this, man?’ They, to me are one of the few new — I’ll call them metal, but there’re so many different levels and layers. There’s pop elements, there’s jazz elements… I love the fact that nobody really knows who they are. I love the fact that they don’t want to be known. There are hints of early, early Slipknot there.”
Lorna Shore vocalist Will Ramos also named Sleep Token as his current favorite band in an interview with Metal Hammer in June. He said:
“I’d love to collaborate with Sleep Token. They’re my favorite freaking band right now. They are so incredibly good.”
The rock and metal scene has fixed its eyes on Sleep Token.
