Sean Ono Lennon recently shared a post on X, where he selected Radiohead’s ‘OK Computer’ as this generation’s equivalent to ‘Sgt. Pepper’s’ of the Beatles.

The singer wrote, comparing two influential albums from different eras to highlight their significance for his generation:

“‘Check Your Head’ was my generation’s ‘Revolver’ and then ‘OK Computer’ was our generation’s ‘Sgt. Pepper’s.'”

Alternative Takes On Generation-Defining Albums

A user responded to the rocker by suggesting other albums, writing:

“I think Jellyfish’s ‘Spilt Milk’ was our gens’ Sgt. Pepper’s.’ I think ‘OK Computer’ was our generation’s ‘Low’ by [David] Bowie, but that’s me.”

Agreeing with some points, Lennon replied:

“I love Jellyfish, too. But that album didn’t have the reach and influence.”

Quest For The ‘White Album’

In the comments section under his post, another user asked Sean:

“What was our generation’s ‘White Album?’ I was born December 8, 1981, btw.”

Before him, one other user on the platform said, referring to a Smashing Pumpkins record:

“‘Mellon Collie,’ obviously!”

Sean agreed and then shared his favorite Pumpkins album, writing:

“Yeah, I guess that makes sense. But as an album, ‘Siamese Dream’ is my favorite Pumpkins record.”

Another comment also drew a parallel between other Beatles and Radiohead records, saying:

“‘The Bends’ was ‘Rubber Soul.'”

Lennon’s Take On The Goo Goo Dolls’ ‘Iris’

As an active user on X, Lennon frequently shares his opinions on various bands and albums and political issues in the United States. A few weeks ago, he expressed his dislike for the 1998 hit ‘Iris’ by the Goo Goo Dolls. While discussing his current health issues, he made comments about the song’s lyrics, writing:

“Forgive my feeling a bit negative today from this never-ending lung infection — but the lyric ‘I just want you to know who I am’ is some stupid sh*t. That song is so f*cking dumb. Ugh. I’m sorry if you like it. But also not sorry. (Good news is I’m getting a six-pack from coughing up ectoplasm).”

In the comments, some fans agreed with Sean’s negative opinion of the song. One person tweeted that they also disliked the song, which was made for the movie ‘City Of Angels.’ Lennon responded by saying he felt the same and compared the song to an unpleasant experience with a wet dog trying to cuddle after being in the rain.
