Judas Priest drummer Scott Travis discussed the band’s latest album ‘Invincible Shield’ in a recent interview with Nacion Metal RadioShowSV.

“We took our time and we did it [Judas Priest’s latest album ‘Invincible Shield’] over the course of a year and a half,” Travis said. “And we did it in all different places. We did some in Nashville, we did some in England.”

“We did some even in hotel rooms when we were traveling on tour, because, with having [producer and touring guitarist] Andy Sneap in the band, who’s obviously the producer, he has so many ways to record guitars, bass, drums, vocals,” he continued.

“So, we recorded some in Phoenix, Arizona, I remember that also,” Travis added. “But no real challenges other than taking our time, and it seemed to be the right decision. So we hope to do it again in 2026 and have another new release.”

The statement highlights the band’s future plans and their recent recording process.

Modern circumstances and technological capabilities shaped the unique recording approach for ‘Invincible Shield. ‘

Reports from Blabbermouth revealed that the COVID-19 pandemic led to an unconventional recording method. Band members recorded their parts individually instead of as a group.

Bassist Ian Hill showcased the flexibility of this approach. He recorded his parts in hotel rooms using producer Andy Sneap’s portable Pro Tools rig. This demonstrated how modern technology enabled their creative process despite limitations.

Guitarist Richie Faulkner maximized the lockdown period to refine the songs. He made significant contributions to the songwriting process.

Sony Music released the album on March 6, 2024. The record combines traditional metal elements with new progressive aspects. This combination sets the foundation for their anticipated 2026 release.
