Ever since Van Halen disbanded after Eddie Van Halen’s tragic passing in 2020, the band’s loyal fans have wanted to see a reunion with the remaining members. This scenario includes two well-known lead singers taking the stage, both of which left a mark on the group’s history during their time. In a recent interview with GrowthTV, Sammy Hagar addressed a possible Van Halen reunion and mentioned David Lee Roth.

It has been over two years since the rock world lost its extraordinary guitar player Eddie Van Halen. The musician had been struggling with throat and lung cancer before his passing on October 6, 2020. Following this tragic loss, Van Halen decided to part ways, but rumors about a reunion have never stopped swirling around the fans.

Hence, the Red Rocker recently answered questions about the long-awaited reunion and stated he would be down to play with the remaining members. Hagar said, “Oh hell yes. I would be involved, and I would insist that Dave come along somehow. He’s not so friendly.”

He then stated that he could easily sing David Lee Roth’s parts if he didn’t want to do it due to his unfriendly nature, “He doesn’t play well with others and never has and never will, but if he didn’t want to do it, then, of course, I can always sing those songs. Those songs are easy. I sing those songs, lying on my back, smoking a cigarette, even though I don’t smoke.”

“That would be awesome. I would say that if Alex and Mike are in, Mike and I are really tight; Alex is a little quirky, and I don’t know what he wants to do,” Hagar also said. The singer later stated that Alex wouldn’t tour without his brother, saying, “He probably doesn’t want to ever tour again without his brother. I wouldn’t blame him if he did.”

During the conversation, Sammy Hagar also touched upon his current relationship with Wolf Van Halen. The rocker revealed that he lost touch with Eddie Van Halen’s son since he left the band. He said, “Wolfie is the guy, but I don’t think Wolfie wants to do that. I don’t communicate with Wolfie that much. I’m not really that close with Wolfie anymore since I was not in the band. When he was little, I was really close to Wolfie.”

Still, Hagar disclosed that he’s keeping an eye on Wolf’s works, “He’s doing a great job with his own band. He’s really making it. He’s making a carbon on a name for himself original, and I think the coolest thing he ever did was say, ‘No. I’m not going to try to fill my dad’s shoes. I’m going to go out and be Wolfie.’ He’s got his dad’s shoes on. He’s wearing it. He’s got his dad’s heart. He’s doing the right thing.”

Though the discussion about whether Sammy Hagar or David Lee Roth could take the mic in a potential Van Halen reunion fueled statements like Hagar’s, the quarrel between these two singers goes way back. Since Hagar and Roth represent the two essential eras in Van Halen, there has always been a rivalry and competition between the two, often turned into feuds despite having temporary peace once.
