Falling In Reverse frontman Ronnie Radke has addressed recent catfishing claims involving Brittany Furlan. The statement appeared in TMZ.
Radke addressed the serious nature of the situation involving fake Snapchat accounts. He expressed deep concern for those affected by the deception.
“I’m kind of flabbergasted. There’s multiple other girls as well who are involved in the same Snapchat, and I just don’t want people getting tricked and duped,” Radke said. “And so the FBI are now involved and it’s a felony; it’s a crime, so it’s pretty serious, I guess.”
Radke explained his typical stance on fake accounts. He highlighted why this particular situation stood out as different.
“I see it a lot. I see multiple Ronnie Radke accounts and stuff like that, but I don’t take it serious – it’s very obvious that it’s not… real. So this one took me by surprise,” he continued. “I [reached out] when she was saying it was me, because I was starting to get a little upset. And by the way, I feel bad for her and for all the other people involved in this.”
Radke then addressed Tommy Lee, Furlan’s husband directly: “I just don’t want to be called obsessed with somebody I don’t even know. I fucking love Tommy; I’m a huge fan of Motley Crue and Tommy… So Tommy, if you’re watching this, much respect. I apologize. I don’t know what else to say.”
The FBI’s involvement indicates serious legal implications for those behind the fake accounts.
New details have emerged about the extent of the deception.
Reports from Perez Hilton revealed the scandal escalated after Brittany Furlan’s reported split from Tommy Lee. Sources indicated she developed feelings for someone impersonating Radke during her marriage to the Mötley Crüe drummer.
Radke has firmly maintained his innocence throughout the ordeal. He emphasized that he has never owned a Snapchat account or communicated with Furlan. He currently works with authorities to clear his name and prove his non-involvement.
The investigation took on greater urgency after a troubling development. Furlan had attempted to meet the impersonator at what she believed was Radke’s residence. This incident highlighted the dangerous real-world implications of the catfishing scheme.
The involvement of law enforcement highlights a growing problem. Celebrity impersonation on social media platforms poses significant risks to both the impersonated individuals and their unsuspecting fans.
