Wouldn’t you love it when a hobby turned into your job? Doing something you love and making it into a career is probably one of the most mentioned concepts in every self-help book. The turn of events has changed Randy Blythe’s life precisely in that direction where they started Lamb of God out of pure love, later becoming their full-time business.
In an appearance on Jonathan Montenegro’s ‘My 3 Questions To’ series, Blythe revealed, “I think the most complicated part of it is not anything within the band. It’s trying to make sense of how this has become a career, really. Because we just did it for the love of it. That’s why we started the band. I never thought it would be a job. I was never, like, ‘Oh, we’re gonna be rock stars,’ or whatever.”
Since the singer didn’t ever imagine that the band would fund his life, it has been a hard transition from seeing it as a hobby to turning it into an up-and-running business. He added, “I think the complicated part of it for me has been navigating the fact that something that I would be doing anyway, which is making music, is navigating how that has become a business.”
Although the transition has been challenging, and Blythe is still trying to get the hang of it with the help of his team, the band seems to be on the right track, as they have done so much this past year. Not only did they release their ‘Omens’ album, but they were also on their Live Nation produced 2022 summer/fall US tour. The album might be an excellent place to start if you need to catch up with the band’s prolific career.
