Phil Collins has lost his leading position in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame 2026 fan vote after three weeks at the top. R&B group New Edition now claims first place according to the latest leaderboard from Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
The current standings show a significant shift in voter preferences. New Edition has overtaken the former Genesis drummer and solo artist who had maintained the lead since voting began.
“Rock and Roll Hall of Fame 2026 Fan Vote Leaderboard: 1. New Edition, 2. Phil Collins, 3. Pink, 4. Luther Vandross, 5. Inxs, 6. Sade, 7. Billy Idol,” the official leaderboard shows.

This change marks the first major upset in the 2026 fan voting process. It demonstrates the competitive nature of this year’s nominations. The fan vote continues as part of the overall selection process for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame’s 2026 inductees.
The voting gap between the two frontrunners reveals the intensity of fan engagement in this year’s competition. AXS TV reported that New Edition currently holds 606,181 votes while Collins sits at 554,300, creating a margin of approximately 52,000 votes.
Collins’ position in the race may be influenced by his previous Rock Hall recognition. AXS TV noted that Collins’ prior induction with Genesis in 2010 may reduce some voter urgency for his solo nomination, as fans might prioritize artists who have never received Hall of Fame recognition.
The fan vote’s influence on final induction decisions remains limited within the broader selection process. AXS TV explained that the fan vote folds into a broader voting process and does not decide inductees alone. This was demonstrated when 2025 fan vote leaders Billy Idol and Phish missed induction despite strong public support.
The 2026 nomination cycle continues to showcase the evolving landscape of rock and roll recognition. R&B and pop artists compete alongside traditional rock acts for one of music’s most prestigious honors. The final inductees will be announced later this year. The ceremony is expected to take place in the fall.
