Paul McCartney Bids Farewell To Taylor Hawkins, ‘You Were A True Rock Hero’
Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins‘ unexpected death deeply saddened the band members, the fans, and famous names in the music industry. Since he passed away, people have been sharing their farewells, especially on social media. Paul McCartney was one of these names. In a recent Instagram post, McCartney talked about Taylor Hawkins and called him a true rock and roll hero.
On March 25, while Foo Fighters was on their South American tour, Taylor Hawkins’ sudden death was announced. Thereupon, Foo Fighters canceled all upcoming tour dates. Besides band members, many people showed their sadness by sharing farewell messages mentioning their love for Hawkins.
Perry Farell, Hawkins’ close friend, posted a video eulogy he shared memories with him. Stevie Nicks shared a photo of Hawkins and herself on Twitter by adding a poem under it. Another friend of the late drummer, Metallica’s Lars Ulrich, penned a letter for Hawkins to thank him and revealed that his last phone call with Hawkins was inspiring. Other musicians like Ozzy Osbourne, Travis Barker, Brian May, and Tommy Lee also expressed their condolences.
Recently, The Beatles icon Paul McCartney posted a photo of them together on Instagram to bid his friend a farewell. McCartney called Hawkins a ‘great drummer‘ and mentioned that Hawkins’ personality was so gleaming that everybody who knew him was so lucky. McCartney talked about his memory when he played the drums with Foo Fighters.
He mentioned that he would never forget the night they played The Beatles’ song ‘Get Back’ in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame when Taylor Hawkins provided a powerhouse drum part. McCartney finished his farewell by thanking Hawkins and calling him a ‘true Rock and Roll hero.’
