Nikki Sixx Names Favorite Rock Vocalists, Excludes Vince Neil

Nikki Sixx revealed his top rock vocalists upon a question from one of his followers on Twitter, but the bassist excluded his Mötley Crüe bandmate, Vince Neil.

In his Q&A session with the fans, one of them asked Sixx:

“Who’s your favorite vocalist? Who do you find most impressive?”

The musician named his two favorite rock lead singers, writing:

“I would say Steven Tyler first… Then, very close behind him is Robin Zander… Those two write some of the most powerful, hooky, and interesting melody lines.”

Considering Nikki’s previous answer to his favorite bands of all time outside of Mötley Crüe, his top rock vocalists shouldn’t be surprising. In another Q&A he did again on Twitter two years ago, the bassist revealed the bands he loves, saying:

“It’s always the same. Aerosmith and Cheap Trick.”

Luckily, Sixx had a chance to collaborate with Tyler when the Aerosmith singer contributed to the backing vocals of ‘Sticky Sweet,’ which was featured on Mötley Crüe’s fifth studio album, ‘Dr. Feelgood.’ Their coincidence at the same time in the same studio gave birth to this collab.

He mentioned Cheap Trick’s influence on him several times before in different interviews. The bassist once named the band as his primary inspiration for songwriting. On another occasion, he also referred to the Cheap Trick guitarist Rick Nielson as his hero.
