New Linkin Park drummer Colin Brittain recently explained why the band has decided against doing meet and greets. He shared insights about the band’s approach to preserving energy for their performances in an interview on the One Life One Chance Podcast.
Brittain addressed fan questions about the band’s policy regarding meet and greets. He cited practical concerns about energy conservation for their shows.
“Some people ask, ‘Why does Linkin Park not do meet&greets?’ Because that’s a lot of energy, and we have a long show, and the vocalists especially – Emily needs to watch her voice,” Brittain said.
The drummer also spoke about how established band members Mike Shinoda and others have welcomed him and new vocalist Emily Armstrong to the group.
“Mike and the rest of the guys have been so gracious and encouraging and generous to me and Emily, and every time he can he’s like ‘have you met Colin? have you met Emily?’ And he didn’t have to do that,” he continued. “[These guys] are kinda like older brothers to us a little bit.”
The comments provide insight into how the reformed Linkin Park operates with its new lineup members. They also reveal their approach to managing performance demands.
Brittain brings extensive production experience to the band. He worked with major artists including 5 Seconds of Summer and All Time Low before joining Linkin Park’s rhythm section. His background as a producer gives him unique insight into the energy management challenges that bands face during extensive touring schedules.
Louder Sound reported that Armstrong was previously known as the frontwoman of LA alt-rock band Dead Sara, which she co-founded in the early 2000s. Her profile skyrocketed in 2024 when she became the new singer of Linkin Park, taking on the challenging role of replacing the band’s original vocalist.
The band’s 2024 reunion marked the end of a seven-year hiatus following the tragic loss of their original lead singer Chester Bennington in 2017. Vice noted that Armstrong joined Linkin Park from Dead Sara, bringing her own vocal style and energy to the legendary nu-metal group.
The decision to avoid meet and greets reflects the band’s commitment to delivering high-quality performances throughout their ongoing 2024-2025 reunion activities. Armstrong needs to preserve her voice for demanding vocal performances. The band maintains their reputation for energetic live shows. The policy demonstrates their professional approach to touring logistics.
