During a recent interview with Audacy Check In, Mick Mars expressed his willingness to collaborate with his former Mötley Crüe bandmates on new music, despite recent legal battles and public disagreements that suggested a permanent rift.

Following his departure, Mars accused the band of attempting to financially marginalize him, leveling serious allegations against members, including claims of gaslighting and using backing tracks during performances. Despite these harsh accusations and legal issues, Mars indicated that his past with Crüe hasn’t entirely closed the door on future collaborations:

“If Motley wanted me to write songs with them again, of course I would. But right now, I’m just me (solo). So I’m writing, and it’s not Motley, and it’s how I feel. My ideas, my kind of thing. Kind of trying to reinvent myself and bring myself up to date.”

Mars, who stepped back from touring with Mötley Crüe in 2023 due to ankylosing spondylitis, a chronic inflammatory condition, has been at odds with the band since his departure. His exit, initially under seemingly amicable terms, quickly soured, leading to a lawsuit against his former colleagues.

The legal disputes, which trace back to Mars’s announcement of his touring departure in 2022, reached a milestone in January 2024 when a judge ruled in favor of Mars. The decision was seen as a victory for Mars, addressing the band’s delay in submitting requested documents and allegedly bullying tactics.

Despite this, the Crüe’s attorney has declared the case concluded, suggesting that all required documents have been turned over.

Mars Recently Said A Reconciliation With Crüe Was ‘Impossible’

Mars’s recent openness to collaboration contrasts sharply with his previous stance, as detailed in a Guitar World interview where he described reconciliation as ‘impossible’ due to the deep-seated issues between him and the band. However, his current perspective offers a glimmer of hope for fans longing for a reunion, at least in the creative realm.

Throughout these developments, Mars has not been idle. He released his debut solo album, ‘The Other Side of Mars,‘ and confirmed he has more music on the way. Mars sees this solo as an opportunity to reinvent himself and update his musical expression after more than 40 years in the industry.
