Mick Jagger’s Hilarious Answer To A Fan Saying ‘Get Your Hair Cut’

During the 1970s, one of the biggest bands that stood up and ruled the music scene was no other than The Rolling Stones. Their talents and entertaining stage performances brought them the fame that is still an ongoing phenomenon, and they managed to be an iconic band since their formation in 1962.

Mick Jagger’s unique way of moving on the stage and not being shy to express himself using fashion has made him an icon for many people. At the time, other iconic figures like Freddie Mercury paved the way for flamboyant fashion, and David Bowie was a frontier for men to wear glitter outfits. Jagger, on the other hand, seemed like he didn’t care about what he wore but still made a lot of statements by his outfits only.

He was and still is an influence and inspiration thanks to his dance performances. Hence the phrase ‘Moves Like Jagger’ has been circling around, making everyone familiarise Jagger. Not only in rock and roll but also musicians in other genres such as rap have been inspired by his moves, style, and even personality throughout the years.

Mick Jagger’s Reaction To A Fan Was Witty

The singer undoubtedly had to deal with a lot of criticism coming on his way. Naturally, a person who is confident enough to be present uniquely in the world would face such criticism as it wouldn’t appeal to everyone. Aside from his fashion style and dance moves, he was also very well known for his big hair which he managed to wear successfully as an accessory to his star outfits and as a prop with his dance moves.

With the criticism, he adapted to a way where he would come up with comebacks to those who judged the way he looked. A proof of this surfaced the earth when another icon, David Bowie, talked about and imitated Jagger in an interview in 2002. When he went to see Little Richard, The Stones were still at the beginning of their career, and not many people knew them. He described the show as very ‘rebellious,’ and surely Jagger’s comeback to a fan contributed to that.

According to Bowie, a fan told Jagger to cut his hair, and Jagger replied by mocking the fan saying, ‘And look like you?’ This made a place in Bowie’s head, and he never forgot these words uttered by Jagger. He also remembered the concert which was unbelievable as The Stones’ fanbase was mainly young people.

Here is Jagger’s comeback as told by Bowie in 2002:

“The Rolling Stones were opening up for him, Little Richard. It’s the first time I ever saw them, they weren’t very well known. There were about six kids rushed to the front. That was their fanbase at the time. Everybody was there for Little Richard, and I think Bo Diddley was on the show and all that.

It was priceless. I’ve never seen anything so rebellious in my life. Some guy yells, ‘Get your hair cut!’ Mick says, and I will never forget these words, ‘What? And look like you?’ I thought, ‘Oh my God, this is the future of music!'”
