What could possibly be more epic than being stuck on a cruise ship with Lamb of God and other heavy metal giants? Well, Mastodon’s Brann Dailor recently opened up about this very scenario as he spoke about the upcoming Headbangers Boat Cruise Festival in an interview on Full Metal Jackie’s weekend radio program.
Lamb of God has teamed up with Sixthman for the inaugural Headbangers Boat cruise festival, which is set to leave port on October 31 from Miami, cruising all the way to the Bahamas before returning on November 4. In addition to Lamb of God, the heavy metal cruise unveiled a lineup that included bands like Mastodon, GWAR, Hatebreed, Shadows Fall, God Forbid, Fit for an Autopsy.
When asked about the upcoming cruise, Brann Dailor shared his excitement and anticipation for being trapped on a ship with Lamb of God, where no one can escape the headbanging madness. Dailor reminisced about Mastodon’s early days and wondered how the cruise would compare to those simpler times.
Brann Dailor was asked about how he would feel performing on a ship, and he said:
“I’m not sure. I haven’t played a cruise ship before, but I guess we’ll see. Back in the early days, 20-something years ago, we were playing in people’s kitchens, living rooms and basements, and VFW halls… that whole DIY scene. I doubt it’s going to be anything like that. I’m hoping that it’s a little bit more stripped down production-wise. It’s kind of fun to get in there and get dirty on the cruise ship.
A lot of our friends’ bands have done them, and they all seem to dig it. It’s going to be a fun time, especially with Lamb Of God. I’ve been friends with those guys since they were Burn the Priest, and I always look forward to being able to hang out with them. There’s a bunch of bands on there who are all good friends — Municipal Waste, Shadows Fall… Every band that’s on there we’ve known for 20 years, so it’s going be a total blast at sea, and no one can escape each other.”
The Headbangers Boat Cruise Festival promises to be a wild, heavy metal extravaganza that you won’t want to miss. It’s definitely a different experience for the musicians performing and for the audience coming to watch them go berserk. Fans are looking forward to seeing what Brann Dailor would be up to with Lamb of God during the stay.
