Mark Tremonti formed Alter Bridge in 2004 with Creed bandmates Brian Marshall and Scott Phillips. Over the years, the group built its own following though Creed’s reputation made things harder during their early career.
Tremonti discussed Alter Bridge’s struggles during a recent episode of the ‘Mark and Me’ podcast, saying, “Alter Bridge was… we take a lot of pride in it. It was a lot of uphill battles with Alter Bridge. That was not the overnight-esque kind of thing we had with Creed. If anything, Creed hurt the beginnings of Alter Bridge. We had to form our own voice. And people were [saying], especially in the United States, ‘Oh, Creed Part Two.’”
“Anybody who had any kind of negative things to say about Creed, they threw it at Alter Bridge. So, we had to do our best to shake that. It took us a few albums, but now, we’ve built is such a solid fan base,” his words went on.
“I think we’re recording our eighth record in March,” the guitarist then revealed, “and we’re just very proud of what we’ve done with it. We try to make it sound as different from Creed as possible. It’s a different vision, you know? So, when I go back to Creed, I want to make Creed sound like its own thing. And yet, we compartmentalize all these bands.”
Alter Bridge’s last album, ‘Pawns & Kings,’ came out in October 2022. The band followed it with a tour in 2023.
In the same year, Creed reunited and announced headlining performances for the Summer of ‘99 cruise in 2024. Later, they unveiled the ‘Are You Ready?’ Tour, which kicked off in November with 3 Doors Down, Mammoth WVH, and Finger Eleven.
Meanwhile, Tremonti shared details about his solo album, ‘The End Will Show Us How.’ The record is set for release on January 10, 2025, through Napalm Records. The music video for its fourth single is out.
