Kelly Osbourne opened up about the days following her father Ozzy Osbourne’s death in 2025, revealing details about how the family chose to say goodbye to the Black Sabbath icon, according to Hello Magazine.
Kelly explained that rather than sending her father’s body to a morgue, the family kept him at home so they could grieve together in their own time and space.
“We didn’t put my dad in any sort of morgue,” Kelly Osbourne said. “He came straight home and we got to spend a few days with him and mourn with him and make sure that everything was the way we wanted it to be.”
She also spoke about the outpouring of support the family received from Black Sabbath fans following Ozzy’s death, describing how meaningful their tributes were during that time.
“Black Sabbath fans saved us,” she continued. “Every note, every flower, every gift that was sent to us—we received, we read, we acknowledged, and the people we could find the time to write back to and thank, we did. It showed us that they loved him as much as we loved them. Because he really did.”
Kelly reflected on how her father’s death has changed her, describing the lasting impact of the loss on her life and identity.
“I’ll never be the person I was before my father died,” she said. “A part of me died, too. Everything is different. I’m different. Everything has changed, but it’s just taking it one day at a time and putting the pieces back together in a way that you think will work.”
These private moments at home marked just the beginning of a farewell that would eventually extend into public tribute and permanent remembrance.
Ozzy Osbourne died on July 22, 2025, at the age of 76 after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease, with which he had been diagnosed in 2019. His passing came just weeks after he reunited with Black Sabbath for one final show in England, closing out a career that spanned more than five decades.
On July 30, 2025, the family held a public funeral procession through Birmingham, Ozzy’s hometown, allowing thousands of fans to line the streets and pay their respects to the Prince of Darkness. His sons Louis and Jack described the turnout as overwhelming, a testament to the deep connection Ozzy forged with generations of rock fans.
A day after the Birmingham procession, the family laid Ozzy to rest in a private burial at Welders House, the family’s Buckinghamshire estate, fulfilling his final wish to be buried in the garden beneath a crabapple tree. Sharon Osbourne oversaw the intimate ceremony, giving the family one last quiet moment together before saying their final goodbye.
Kelly has continued to honor her father’s memory in the time since. She has visited his resting place and spoken publicly about her ongoing grief, at one point breaking down in tears while describing the experience as something she “never realised” could hurt so much.
