Kane Roberts Recalls Alice Cooper’s Offer To Replace Nita Strauss

In his latest interview with VWMusic, famous guitarist Kane Roberts revealed one of his conversations with Alice Cooper, who was looking for a new guitar player following Nita Strauss‘ departure. Roberts also stated that he had been working hard for the new tour.

There’s no doubt that Roberts’ milestone moment in his career as a professional musician was joining Alice Cooper’s band in 1985. He took lead guitar duties and co-wrote songs with Cooper for his famous albums, ‘Constrictor’ and ‘Raise Your Fist and Yell.’ However, he didn’t stay in the band for a long time and left in 1988; Roberts’ journey as a solo artist began, but also he gave a break to them by working as a video game programmer.

Years after appearing on the stage together, Cooper announced that Roberts would replace Nita Strauss, who parted ways with the band to collaborate with singer Demi Lovato. The guitarist’s return to the band made the fans surprised and happy, especially the ones that admired his Rambo-like image and his use of the guitar like a machine gun. Some people thought that Orianthi would be their new guitarist, but it only turned out as a rumor.

Moreover, Kane Roberts recalled Cooper’s phone call and said he and the legendary musician were still friends and teamed up with his latest work ‘The New Normal.’ Thus, the guitarist highlighted that Cooper knew Roberts was ready to rock with him again by adding that he was a fan of former member Strauss. However, he wasn’t expecting the invitation until Cooper called him and asked whether he wanted to go back. The answer was yes, and he focused on keeping up with the rest of the band before their concerts.

Roberts said in his interview that:

“Alice and I, of course, are friends, so we talk all the time. I’m a big fan of Nita. I’m a big fan of his entire band right now. They’re all very good. Alice, he knows that, so when Nita implied that she’d be leaving for a little while, I guess it made sense to Alice for him to call me.

But before that, Alice had played on my ‘The New Normal’ album, with Alissa White-Gluz from Arch Enemy on the song ‘Beginning of the End.’ Then they both agreed to be in my video and all that stuff, so he knows I’ve been active, and then recently, I wrote a song with him, so we’ve been in touch musically as well.”

He added:

But the call from Alice to join came out of nowhere. I was sitting at home watching TV or whatever after I was done with my day, and then Sheryl Cooper called and said, ‘Hey, Alice wants to talk to you.’ So, Alice got on the phone and said, ‘Hey, do you want to be in the Alice Cooper band for the fall tour?’ and I went, ‘Yeah, sure,’ because it’s nothing but fun when we’re together.

So, I’ve been listening to the set and everything, and it kicks ass. It’s been a natural thing; of course, I’ve had a crap ton of stuff to get together. There were also these existing musical arrangements that have been developing with the band over the last eight years, but all this stuff is in my fingers. I’m working hard, and yeah, it’s great.”

As a part of promoting the new album, ‘Detroit Stories,’ Alice Cooper’s Detroit Muscle Tour will kick off on September 7, 2022, in Bethlehem, and it will finish on October 8 in Las Vegas. The fans have looked forward to watching Roberts with Cooper again since the exciting announcement.
