Journey recently announced their final tour. This announcement addressed fan concerns about whether this truly marks the end of the legendary rock band, according to a statement shared on X (formerly Twitter).

The band’s official announcement revealed details about their upcoming tour. Fans questioned whether this would be the band’s last chapter. Neal Schon, the band’s guitarist, responded to these concerns with a clarification about the tour’s significance.

“The wait is over – JOURNEY is hitting the road on our FINAL FRONTIER TOUR! Tickets go on sale next Friday, November 14 at 10am local time,” the band announced.

Neal Schon issued a statement to Spin and revealed he was not done with music despite Journey’s farewell plans. Schon said, “This tour is our heartfelt thank you to the fans who’ve been with us every step of the way – through every song, every era, every high and low. We’re pulling out all the stops with a brand-new production – the hits, the deep cuts, the energy, the spectacle. It’s a full-circle celebration of the music that’s brought us all together.”

“As its founding member, I carry the Journey torch to this day, wherever I go. The sentiment and spirit of the band will always remain,” he continued. “While this marks a farewell to one powerful chapter of the Journey we’ve shared, I want everyone to know I’m not done. Music is still burning strong inside me, and there are new creative horizons ahead. This tour is both a thank you and the beginning of what’s next.”

The “Final Frontier Tour” is being positioned as Journey’s farewell to the road. However, the band has provided extensive details about what fans can expect from this historic event. Pollstar reported that the tour will consist of 60 North American dates. It kicks off on February 28, 2026, in Hershey, Pennsylvania, and concludes on July 2, 2026, in Laredo, Texas. Each show will be formatted as an “evening with” Journey—meaning no opening acts and a full-length, career-spanning set. The setlist will feature mega-hits like “Don’t Stop Believin’,” “Faithfully,” “Any Way You Want It,” and “Lights,” along with deep cuts for longtime fans.

The current Journey lineup includes founding guitarist Neal Schon, keyboardist Jonathan Cain, lead vocalist Arnel Pineda, drummer Deen Castronovo, keyboardist Jason Derlatka, and bassist Todd Jensen. The San Francisco Chronicle noted that Jonathan Cain has confirmed he plans to retire from touring after the 2026–27 window. He remains fully committed to the farewell dates. This adds weight to the tour’s significance as a true farewell for at least one key member of the band.

Schon has emphasized the emotional weight of this tour. AXS shared his statement: “This tour is our heartfelt thank-you to the fans who’ve been with us every step of the way – through every song, every era, every high and low. We’re pulling out all the stops with a brand-new production – the hits, the deep cuts, the energy, the spectacle. It’s a full-circle celebration of the music that’s brought us all together.”

Schon’s comments about the tour being “for this chapter” take on deeper meaning when considering his broader plans. The San Francisco Chronicle revealed that Schon has made it clear he is not retiring from music entirely. He stated, “While this marks a farewell to one powerful chapter of the Journey we’ve shared, I want everyone to know I’m not done. Music is still burning strong inside me.” Schon has hinted at future projects, including a potential new venture called “Journey Beyond,” a name he has already trademarked. This suggests he intends to continue creating and performing music under a new banner after Journey’s touring era concludes.

The Final Frontier Tour represents a significant milestone. It marks the end of an era for Journey as fans know it, but not necessarily the end of the band members’ musical journeys. Schon, in particular, appears poised to embark on new creative endeavors.
