John Lennon’s son Sean Ono Lennon recently took to Twitter to slam one of the current trends. The songwriter shared his thoughts about ‘high-value men,’ a term associated with wealth, success, and confidence, which skyrocketed in 2021. Lennon shared a series of tweets to clarify that he finds the trend unnecessary and dumb. The first tweet read:

“Sorry but every time anyone on the internet sincerely uses the terms ‘high value men’ or ‘high value women’ to try to teach you something, they sound dumb. They in fact are dumb. Stay away from dumb sh*t like that. (I see it a lot now that my feed has stuff I never chose to see in the first place.)”

In his following tweet, the singer explained why he thinks the trend is dumb:

“Why is it dumb? Because (obviously) different people are valued differently by different people.

I’ve seen supposedly ‘high value couples’ not valuing each other at all. Trust me I grew up around a lot of that type. Just because you are successful or achieve some societal standard of acceptance does NOT mean you know how to be in a healthy relationship. Most people do not, whether they have a six pack, some Grammies, or a Nobel prize. Almost no one knows how to be in a healthy long term relationship.”

A user, replying to Lennon’s tweet, also shared his ideas on the trend. The user said he finds the people who call themselves ‘high-value’ narcissistic, to which Lennon replied with the following:

“Look I know a ton of men who date the so called hottest girls in the world and they are just as miserable as people in ‘regular’ relationships. Often more miserable. This idea that some man have ‘access’ to hot women and that makes them happy is dumb.”

The trend has been the subject of many TikTok and Youtube videos, and it’s unclear who came up with it first, though some suggest that it was the influencer Kevin Samuels, roasting men who are overweight and broke. While some have already turned this trend into a lifestyle, some call it a scam.
