The footage of Cardi B throwing a microphone back to her fan who threw a drink at her during her performance in Las Vegas caused commotion online. There were fans who justified Cardi’s actions and people who looked down on her. Various musicians, on the other hand, pointed out another fact. In his quote tweet, Joe Bonamassa said:
“I think there are two disturbing trends in the concert business. 1: This baffling trend of ‘fans’ throwing objects such as phones, drinks, etc at artists onstage. 2: Equally disturbing is the blatant use of tracks by artists at ‘live’ shows. An outright fleecing of real fans.”
Mötley Crüe drummer Tommy Lee also criticized Cardi B for using backtracks:
“Who’s singing? While the mic flies.”
Fans throwing random things on stage is not a recent trend. In 2004, David Bowie was hit in the eye with a lollipop during his live performance in Oslo, Norway. Harry Styles recently got hit in the face by a random object. Pop singer Bebe Rexha also got hit in the face with a cellphone and got seriously injured. During Pink’s live performance, a fan threw their mother’s ashes on stage, baffling her.
