Yotam Haim, the drummer of the Israeli metal band Persephore, was among three Israeli hostages killed in Gaza on Friday, December 15. The Israel Defense Forces, in a crossfire situation, mistakenly identified them as ‘threats.’
How The Incident Occurred

The IDF spokesperson announced Haim’s death, stating that the 28-year-old musician and two others were killed in Shejaiya, northern Gaza, as they attempted to escape but were misidentified as terrorists by IDF soldiers.
Yotam Haim resided just over 1 mile from the Gaza border when Hamas terrorists infiltrated Israel on October 7. Before being captured by militants, he managed to send a video to his family via WhatsApp. The footage showed him near the front door of his home in Kfar Aza, after which he went back inside amid the sound of gunfire in the background. He was taken from his home at the war’s outset, and his house was set ablaze by Hamas fighters.
The Band Will Organize a Fundraiser

In a statement released on Friday, the Hostages And Missing Persons Families Forum described Haim as a talented musician with a 20-year drumming career. His band Persephore was scheduled to perform at a music festival in Tel Aviv on October 7.
On December 14, the band made a commitment via an Instagram post, expressing their determination to take every possible measure to bring Yotam Haim home. Additionally, they announced plans to organize a fundraiser in his honor scheduled for the following week.
