Nickelback have just been awarded a sweeping round of new sales and streaming certifications in the United States. Their 2005 single “Rockstar” has become the band’s first track to reach Diamond status in the U.S. The achievement accompanies 15 additional multi-Platinum and Gold certifications, including a new 9x Platinum honor for “How You Remind Me.”
The certifications reflect updated sales and streaming figures tracked by the RIAA as of early September.
The RIAA reported: “Rockstar / Nickelback: Current Certification: 12X PLATINUM, Date: September 4, 2026. How You Remind Me / Nickelback: Current Certification: 9X PLATINUM, Date: September 4, 2026.”
The milestone places “Rockstar” in rare company among the band’s catalog. Diamond status requires 10 million equivalent units in the U.S., a threshold few singles ever cross. The song originally appeared on the 2005 album “All the Right Reasons,” which had already achieved Diamond certification in its own right. That makes “Rockstar” a rare case of both a Diamond album and a Diamond single from the same release.
“How You Remind Me” carries its own storied history. The track served as the lead single from 2001’s “Silver Side Up,” the album that turned Nickelback into a global rock force. That record went on to earn 6x Platinum status in the U.S. “How You Remind Me” itself spent 49 weeks on the Billboard Hot 100 and became the most-played song on American radio for the entire decade.
The new wave of certifications extended well beyond the two headline tracks. “Far Away” picked up a 5x Platinum award. “If Today Was Your Last Day,” “Animals” and “Photograph” each secured 4x Platinum status. The breadth of the announcement underscores just how deep Nickelback’s catalog runs in terms of long-term commercial staying power.
The certifications arrive at a notable moment for the band. “How You Remind Me” recently posted its first-ever entry on the Billboard Global 200 chart, debuting at No. 181 more than two decades after its original release. This marks a sign that the song continues to find new audiences on streaming platforms worldwide, even as Nickelback prepares to release new music later this year.
