Considering the current frequency of artists releasing new music, it’s no wonder why Paramore’s Hayley Williams feels the pressure. With bands like Red Hot Chili Peppers pumping out two albums a year, it’s almost impossible to keep up with what’s coming around the corner for artists. The pressure is on for Paramore’s comeback, and it can be concluded from her KROQ interview that Hayley feels it more than ever for their upcoming album ‘This Is Why.’
“We did feel some pressure with this one,” revealed Hayley. “Especially because a lot of people discovered our band after we took time off, which we just did because we’d been touring since we were teenagers. We were like, ‘Maybe we just need to go home and check on our families and make sure our homes are still there.’”
“It was just like the pressure of realizing that there’s this whole new wave of people that love alternative music,” said Hayley Williams. She also noted, “Maybe the last thing that they heard of us was like ‘Misery Business,’ but we’ve had three albums since then, and we’re on a whole new tip that we’re trying to explore. So there was this pressure of how you know, how loyal do we stay to maybe a projection of us versus who we feel that we are today.”
Feeling a little nervous is inevitable after such a long break, but Williams is counting down the days to release a new song called ‘The News’ from their upcoming album before the year wraps up. The singer shared, “I feel like I’m excited for people to hear even like the song we’re going to put out pretty soon. I feel like we somehow gathered all the experiences and all the things we’ve learned, and we alchemized it all into something new, so it’ll be cool to see what new and old fans think.”
With the rise of Tiktok and new fans discovering Paramore for the first time, it was a different ball game regarding whether to stick to what they had been known for or release music that represents their current music taste. After the release of the lead track ‘This Is Why’ and the teaser the band released on Tiktok for the second track ‘The News’ from the forthcoming album, we have to wait a little longer until the release on February 10 for the full experience.
