Graham Nash opened up about his relationship with the late David Crosby.
In a new interview with Catalyst, Nash talked about his music career and his bandmates. At the end of the conversation, the rocker revealed the pact he and his late bandmate made before the two got involved in a feud.
The Main Purpose of the Pact

Before Crosby’s passing away, the two had an argument that ended up with bad blood. After being close friends for many years, their friendship came to a temporary end because of a mocking comment Crosby made about one of Neil Young’s relationships. Although Crosby apologized, Nash was still upset about the situation and said that he didn’t want anything to do with Crosby again.
Addressing the situation in the latest interview, the rocker explained that the two trusted each other and that they always followed each other’s paths.
He then was asked about an earlier interview after the two stopped communicating, in which he was seen furious. Nash revealed that the two had made a pact that was later broken, thus the anger. He said:
“Yeah, because me and David made a pact with each other that we would never be victims of rock’n’roll. That we would always keep our eye on the tools that we have to be able to make music, and to make sure that we never lost control of those tools.”
Nash talked about the rules of the industry during their early days:
“You see, when the Hollies were first recording, the engineers at Abbey Road wore white coats. And if you wanted your bass turned up, you had to talk to your producer, who would then talk to the engineer, who would then bring the bass up.”
Although there had been changes in the rules, the pact stayed the same. He continued:
“Once you started to sell millions of pieces of plastic, the rules changed. If I wanted more bass, I’d reach over and bring the bass fader up. And Crosby and I never wanted to lose control of what it is that we did.”
Would They Still Be Friends Today?

Following the previous question, Nash touched on his relationship with Crosby. He revealed that if Crosby ever had come to him and offered to make music together, he would have accepted it. He also shared that prior to his passing, the two were in touch and that he wanted to make up for what he said of Young’s relationship.
Even though the two eventually started talking again, it ended with Crosby’s passing without making peace.
