Freddie Mercury’s alleged secret daughter, known as Bibi, has reportedly passed away at the age of 48. The Daily Mail reported the news.
Her widower Thomas contacted the publication to share details about her passing and final wishes.
“Bibi’s widower Thomas contacted the Daily Mail to say that she passed away ‘peacefully after a long battle with chordoma, a rare spinal cancer, leaving two sons aged nine and seven,'” the report stated. “He added, ‘B is now with her beloved and loving father in the world of thoughts. Her ashes were scattered to the wind over the Alps.'”
Author Lesley Ann Jones revealed Bibi’s existence in her book ‘Love, Freddie.’ She expressed her grief over the loss.
“I am devastated by the loss of this woman who became my close friend, who had come to me with a selfless aim: to brush aside all those who have had free rein with Freddie’s story for 32 years, to challenge their lies and their rewriting of his life, and to deliver the truth,” Jones said.
She continued to describe Bibi’s dedication despite her illness.
“At the end of her life, it was all that mattered to her. She was very ill throughout the 4 years that we worked together. But she was on a mission. She put herself and her own needs last,” Jones added.
The revelation of Mercury’s alleged daughter had been a controversial topic since Jones first made the claims in her biographical work about the Queen frontman.
The claims about Bibi’s existence stem from Jones’s extensive research into Mercury’s private life. This research has spanned multiple biographical works over the years.
Barnes & Noble noted that Jones’s 2025 book “Love, Freddie: Freddie Mercury’s Secret Life and Love” draws from Freddie Mercury’s 17 handwritten diaries. Mercury began these diaries in 1976 and entrusted them secretly to a close confidant before his 1991 death. These diaries provide intimate details on his childhood, fears, desires, and songwriting inspirations.
Jones brings significant credibility to her Mercury research. She worked as a British author, journalist and broadcaster who spent more than 20 years as a national newspaper journalist on Fleet Street. Her connection to the Queen story runs deep, as she previously toured with the band during her journalism career.
Her biographical work on Mercury has been extensive and well-documented. Simon & Schuster described her previous Mercury biography as “revealing and intimate, based on more than 100 interviews with key figures in his life.” The publisher considered it “the definitive biography of Queen front man Freddie Mercury.”
The latest book represents what Barnes & Noble describes as “a mind-blowing read” that constitutes “the closest thing to a Freddie Mercury autobiography that the world will ever know”. The work aims to challenge previous narratives about the legendary performer’s life and relationships.
