Triumph drummer and vocalist Gil Moore recently addressed the band’s plans for new music in a recent interview with Ultimate Classic Rock.
The conversation came after Triumph announced additional dates for their reunion tour. That announcement prompted questions about whether the band has any plans to record a new album. Moore explained that while nothing is set in stone, fans can expect a documentary detailing the band’s journey.
“Well, it’s hard to say. I mean, that (new album) is an option that’s on the table. I can tell you there’s going to be a documentary that’s going to be released sometime in 2027, hopefully after this tour,” Moore said.
He went on to explain how the upcoming documentary connects to the band’s earlier film.
“It’s being assembled now and it kind of flows from our first documentary, Triumph: Rock and Roll Machine, which ends kind of like with this sunset moment of ‘Okay, what’s next?'” Moore continued.
He then described what fans can expect to see in the new film.
“Well, this is what’s next and I think that’ll be fun because it’ll give fans a point of view of literally being in the band, backstage, catering, the bus, tuning the guitars — all the stuff that you don’t get to see when you’re in the audience will all be in there as well. Of course, the show itself is from the audience’s perspective, so that’ll be fun,” Moore said.
A new studio album remains uncertain. Triumph fans can look forward to the documentary offering an inside look at the band during their reunion tour. The band’s touring schedule and the story behind their previous documentary give some helpful context for what’s coming next.
Triumph’s reunion run has grown well beyond its original scope. The 50th anniversary tour now stretches across 2026, with dates that began in the spring in cities like St. Catharines, Ontario. It continues through the fall and into December, hitting arenas across the U.S. and Canada, including stops in Grand Rapids, Baltimore, Pittsburgh, Cleveland and Las Vegas. The steady stream of added shows underscores just how much demand there still is for the band decades after their heyday.
The upcoming 2027 film builds directly on the foundation laid by 2022’s Triumph: Rock & Roll Machine. That documentary chronicled the band’s rise to stardom in the 1970s and ’80s before their sudden disappearance at the height of their fame. It closed on an open-ended note, leaving fans wondering what would come next for the group. The new film aims to finally answer that question.
Triumph: Rock & Roll Machine found a wide audience well after its initial release. It made its U.S. broadcast debut on AXS TV in January 2023 and returned to the network again in the summer of 2025.
