The Scorpions also paid tribute to their longtime bandmate with their own heartfelt message.

“Dear Fans, we have just received the very sad news that our longtime friend and bass player, Francis Buchholz, has passed away,” the band stated. “His legacy with the band will live on forever, and we will always remember the many good times we have shared together. Our hearts go out to Hella, his family, and friends. R.I.P. Francis.”

Buchholz’s death marks the end of an era for one of rock music’s most enduring acts. He played a crucial role in shaping the Scorpions’ signature sound during their most successful period.

Wikipedia reported that Buchholz served as the Scorpions’ bassist from 1973 to 1992, spanning nearly two decades of the band’s career. During his tenure with the group, he contributed to some of their most iconic albums and helped establish their place in rock history.

The bassist’s impact on the band’s commercial success was substantial. Guitar World noted that Buchholz anchored the Scorpions’ sound from 1974’s “Fly to the Rainbow” to 1990’s “Crazy World.” He played on era-defining releases that included classics like “Lovedrive,” “Blackout,” and “Love at First Sting.”

His contributions helped the band achieve remarkable commercial success worldwide. Los Angeles Times revealed that the Scorpions sold over 100 million records globally during Buchholz’s time with the band. They earned more than 50 gold and platinum awards for their record sales across different markets.

“It is with overwhelming sadness and heavy hearts we share the news that our beloved Francis passed away yesterday after a private battle with cancer. He departed this world peacefully, surrounded by love,” the family added in their extended statement.
