A federal court has ruled in favor of Armadillo Distribution Enterprises in a trademark dispute involving late Pantera guitarist Dimebag Darrell Abbott’s estate and Dean Guitars. The PRP reported this development.
The United States District Court for the Middle District of Florida granted summary judgment in favor of Armadillo Distribution Enterprises. The court dismissed the majority of In Dime We Trust’s trademark, fraud, and breach of contract claims. Armadillo Distribution Enterprises issued a press release acknowledging the court’s decision.
“Armadillo Distribution Enterprises today acknowledges the ruling issued by the United States District Court for the Middle District of Florida in the matter of In Dime We Trust v. Armadillo Distribution Enterprises on Friday, April 24, 2026,” the company stated. “The Court granted summary judgment in favor of Armadillo, dismissing the majority of In Dime We Trust’s trademark, fraud, and breach of contract claims, including all In Dime We Trust’s claims regarding the ownership of Dean’s guitar models.”
The company emphasized its long-standing relationship with the Abbott family in its statement.
“For almost two decades Armadillo was proud to work directly with the Abbott family under a relationship built upon mutual respect, shared purpose, and a genuine love for Darrell Abbott’s music and his love for Dean Guitars,” they continued.
Pamela Keris, Owner & CEO of Armadillo Distribution Enterprises, expressed gratitude for the court’s decision.
“The United States District Court’s order is confirmation of what we have known all along: Armadillo’s ownership of the Stealth and Razorback trademarks, the Razorback guitar design, and related intellectual property was earned through years of prior use and good faith commercial activity,” Keris said. “We are grateful for the Court’s thorough and careful consideration of the law.”
The lawsuit originated in 2021 when Dimebag Darrell’s ex-girlfriend Rita Haney announced the end of the guitarist’s endorsement relationship with Dean Guitars. Haney had expressed disappointment with the company’s approach to honoring Dimebag’s legacy.
“After much consideration, it is with great sadness that I announce the longstanding relationship between Dimebag and Dean Guitars is over,” Haney said in 2021. “Unfortunately, we were forced to file a lawsuit against Dean Guitars on Monday, August 16th. It was necessary for us to end Dime’s endorsement of Dean Guitars to continue to honor and celebrate his legacy the way he deserves, and in the way he had laid it out.”
Haney also revealed details about failed settlement attempts with Dean Guitars.
“I made several attempts to amicably settle our dispute with Dean Guitars, however, it became clear to me that Dimebag’s relationship with Dean Guitars had come to an end when the new CEO of Dean Guitars told me that Dime has been dead for 16 years and they could not make the money they once did,” she said. “And then continued on to tell me i should go somewhere else. Well… we will!”
This legal victory represents a significant milestone for Armadillo Distribution Enterprises. The company has maintained its position as the rightful owner of key Dean guitar intellectual property throughout the lengthy dispute.
The PRP noted that the court’s ruling specifically addressed claims over the Razorback and Stealth guitar trademarks that were central to Dimebag Darrell’s signature sound and image. These guitar models became synonymous with the late guitarist’s aggressive playing style. They were instrumental in defining his musical legacy.

Armadillo Distribution Enterprises successfully demonstrated to the court that their ownership of these trademarks was established through years of legitimate commercial use and proper legal procedures.
The ruling confirms Armadillo Distribution Enterprises’ position as the current owner of Dean Guitars. This gives them full control over the brand’s direction and trademark usage. This ownership structure played a crucial role in the court’s decision to dismiss the majority of claims brought by In Dime We Trust.
The court’s comprehensive review of the case ultimately validated Armadillo’s long-standing claims to the intellectual property. This brings closure to a dispute that had been ongoing since 2021. The ruling ensures that Dean Guitars can continue operating under Armadillo’s ownership without the legal uncertainties that had surrounded the trademark claims.
