Jack Osbourne recently provided updates on the upcoming Ozzy Osbourne biopic, confirming that a major Hollywood actor has been selected to portray his father in the highly anticipated film. The details were shared in an interview with Entertainment Tonight.
During the interview, Jack Osbourne discussed the current status of the biopic project and revealed exciting developments about casting decisions.
When asked about the movie plans, Jack Osbourne responded with enthusiasm about the project’s progress.
“Yeah, we are full steam ahead. We’ve been in development at Sony for a number of years now,” he said. “The script is down. We’re just making some final tweeks, and hopefully get, you know, a director attached pretty soon. It’s on and popping.”
Jack then addressed the casting speculation that has surrounded the project.
“We have someone in mind. A really brilliant big actor and yeah, we are very excited if it works out the way we hope,” he continued.
He also reflected on how his father might have reacted to the overwhelming support for the biopic project.
“I mean listen, if Hollywood approves and the power is that big and gives us the green light, then we are ready to go. So it’s very exciting,” he said. “I think my dad would have just been like, ‘Wait, what?!’ With all the outpouring of love, I don’t think he wouldn’t have believed it.”
The biopic project has been gaining momentum with several key developments emerging in recent weeks. Jack Osbourne confirmed during a May 12 YouTube livestream that the biopic script is complete and the project is moving forward with concrete plans, as reported by AXS TV.
The production timeline has also become clearer. AXS TV revealed that a 2028 release is being targeted for the film. Jack noted that while the timing could still change, this gives fans a realistic expectation for when they might see the Prince of Darkness’s life story on the big screen.
The next crucial step in the production process involves securing a director for the project. Jack said the team is about to start searching for a director to attach to the film, which represents a significant milestone in moving the project from development to pre-production, AXS TV noted.
The film’s scope will focus on a specific period of Ozzy’s career. Guitar World indicated that the movie will feature Ozzy at the tail end of his Black Sabbath career and will also include Randy Rhoads. This suggests the biopic will cover one of the most transformative periods in rock history, when Ozzy transitioned from his legendary band to his equally successful solo career.
The biopic remains in active development at Sony. Final script adjustments are being made before moving forward with director attachment.
