This lighthearted remark follows Alex Van Halen’s recent interview where he discussed the challenges of finding a suitable vocalist for the band’s upcoming project. The interview included his disappointment about Paul Rodgers being unable to participate due to health concerns. Limp Bizkit’s Fred Durst had also thrown his hat in the ring, expressing his readiness to take on the role.

“Let’s go!! I’m ready,” Durst commented about Alex’s singer search.

The search for a new vocalist comes as Alex Van Halen works to complete what could be the band’s final album featuring previously unreleased material recorded with his late brother Eddie Van Halen.

Blabbermouth reported that Alex Van Halen confirmed the album he is working on with Steve Lukather includes previously unreleased, unfinished Van Halen recordings. The project represents a significant effort to preserve Eddie Van Halen’s musical legacy following his death in 2020.

Ultimate Classic Rock noted that Alex Van Halen confirmed work on an album of unfinished Van Halen songs in February 2026. The recordings feature drums, guitar, and bass parts that were completed before Eddie’s passing. This makes the search for the right vocalist crucial to honoring the material.

Guitar World revealed that the record is effectively finished except for the vocal parts. Alex explained that it sounds like it was completed before Eddie passed away in 2020. This revelation adds weight to the importance of selecting the right singer to complete what may be Van Halen’s final studio effort.

The collaboration with Steve Lukather, known for his work with Toto, demonstrates Alex’s commitment to working with seasoned musicians. These musicians can help bring these final Van Halen recordings to fruition while maintaining the band’s legendary sound quality.
