Paul Di’Anno’s official Facebook page has announced the placement of a new headstone at the former Iron Maiden vocalist’s grave in London.
The installation took place before what would have been the singer’s 67th birthday. His management team shared the update with fans worldwide.
“Dear fans and friends. A beautiful headstone has finally been placed on Paul’s grave in the days leading up to his heavenly 67th birthday,” Di’Anno’s management wrote in a statement. “Thank you to Paul’s sister Sharon who sent us this photo so we could share it with you. Last week, the whole world has shown once again how much Paul means to them and how much he is missed.”
The metal community and his former bandmates continue to feel the impact of Di’Anno’s passing months after his death.
The Los Angeles Times reported Di’Anno’s death on October 20, 2024, at his home in Salisbury, England. The 66-year-old singer succumbed to a cardiac tamponade. Blood had filled the sac around his heart due to a tear in the main aorta artery, leading to an instantaneous and painless death.
Music publication Marca highlighted Di’Anno’s influential role with Iron Maiden from 1978 to 1981. He recorded two landmark albums during this period: “Iron Maiden” (1980) and “Killers” (1981). These recordings established the foundation for the band’s future success.
Hello Rayo disclosed Iron Maiden’s support for Di’Anno in his final years. The band helped cover his medical bills for lung abscess treatment. Musicians gathered at the Underworld Camden for an In Memoriam show after his passing. They performed as a final tribute to their friend.
