Jason Becker Admits He Thought He Was About To Die And Gives An Update On His Current Health Status
Musician and songwriter, Jason Becker posted a tweet on his Twitter account to open up about his latest health status after being hospitalized for a while. He also revealed that he actually thought he was going to die.
As you may know, Jason Becker was diagnosed with ALS in 1991 at the age of 22 years old. Since 1996, he lost his ability to speak and move. He has been communicating with people using his eyes through a system developed by his father. But, Becker didn’t give up on producing music which was the greatest passion of his life. He continued to produce the new musical projects with the help of his computer.
Most recently, Becker released his latest album, ‘Triumphant Hearts’ on December 7, 2018, after launching a campaign to fund his project. He collaborated with different artists such as Greg Howe, Steve Morse, Paul Gilbert, and Steve Vai. Then, another fundraiser campaign was started by his colleagues to support Becker and his family throughout his longtime battle with ALS.
Shred For Jason Becker was launched in March 2021 and continued in April. The streaming event was hosted by DragonForce guitarist Herman Li from his Twitch channel featuring Steve Vai and Tosin Abasi. Becker stated that he was very happy about the supports of his friends and fans. Unfortunately, he was hospitalized on April 8, 2021, because he couldn’t breathe properly.
In a recent statement he shared on Twitter, Becker revealed that he thought he was very close to the end after being hospitalized for months. He also shared an update about his health to relieve his devastated fans and friends saying that he was getting better and better. Jason mentioned that he hopes to get back to his music projects as soon as possible. He also expressed his gratitude for their kindness, prayers, emotional and financial supports on his Twitter account.
Here’s what he posted:
“Hey everyone, I am finally starting to feel like myself again, after many months of scary health issues, and thinking I was on my way out. Once again, thank you all for your prayers and well-wishes; I honestly feel that energy, and I’m very grateful. “
Here’s what he wrote in his statement:
“Hey everyone, I am finally starting to feel like myself again, after many months of scary health issues, and thinking I was on my way out. Once again, thank you all for your prayers and well-wishes; I honestly feel that energy, and I’m very grateful. It feels so good to know you are out there and your kindness and support bring tears to my eyes.
How can I possibly thank Herman Li, Nayla, Colleen, Stephen, Amy, and all the musicians who got together and donated their time and guitars and put their hearts into their music, all for my benefit? Your loving words and gestures are humbling and I am honored. Thank you all. I am blessed beyond belief for each and every one of you.
I am hoping to be able to check in on the computer and try to keep up with everything as much as my energy will allow me, and I hope to get back to music, in some form, as much as I can.
I thank you all from the bottom of my heart. My family and I could not have gotten this far without you all.”
